Muriel Anderson

February 6, 2014 8:00 pm

Join us for a classic evening with Muriel Anderson and French guitarist Shai Sebbag. Muriel Anderson is a world-famed fingerstyle guitarists and harp-guitarist, and she is proud to claim the title of the first woman to win the National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship.

She has recorded with country legend Chet Atkins, performed in New York with Les Paul, and has shared the stage with the Chicago Symphony and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Muriel is the host and founder of Muriel Anderson’s All Star Guitar Night, a premiere music event at the semi-annual NAMM music trade show. She is a prolific composer and tours year-round in North America, Europe, East Asia, and Southeast Asia. Her unique approach and plucking style seemingly transform the guitar to a lyrical choir, then to a marching band, then to a Japanese Koto. Recently she has teamed up with Germany’s top guitar duo, Tierra Negra, adding a new dimension and excitement to her music.

Muriel’s recording of “El Noi de la Mare” appeared in Woody Allen’s film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and her track “Heartstrings” was chosen by NASA to play on the Discovery space shuttle. Muriel Anderson has released eight instrumental albums, instructional DVD’s, and guitar books published by Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, and Zen-On Japan.

This evening marks another milestone for Muriel, the release of her two-disc album, Nightlight/Daylight.
